He retired from pastoral ministry in September of 2020, but remains active in partnership with Christians living in South Sudan, Sudan, and Malawi. He also continues to preach and write.

We welcome children of all ages in our Worship Service. At the Information Center in the rear of the Sanctuary, we offer children a “Book Bucket” with books and activities for their use. Parents, please do not be concerned if your young child cries. We believe that the cries of young children signal that the church is alive, well, and destined to continue for generations to come.

We invite you to join us for a time of fellowship after each Sunday’s worship service.

We also invite those who wish to have a time of personal prayer for needs in their lives to please speak to one of the Ruling Elders—Jaye Moelk, James Stahl, or Bob LeSuer—and he or she will arrange for someone to meet with you and pray with you.

[Per-Member Giving Graphic]

Annual “Per-Member Asking”
for the Presbytery of the Alleghenies
and for the EPC General Assembly

At the beginning of every new year, the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in concert with the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, votes to establish a budget for Denominational and Presbytery operations and expenses. This budget is largely supported by churches and congregations participating in a special stewardship program called “Per-Member Asking.”

For this year of 2024, the amount includes $25.00 for the General Assembly and $15.00 for the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, or a Total of $40.00 for each member who is currently on the roll of each particular church as of the end of the previous year, in this case, on the roll as of December 31, 2023.

Both the Presbytery of the Alleghenies and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church General Assembly consider this “Per-Member Asking” amount as completely voluntary. While some churches are simply unable to fulfill this request, we at Redeemer Presbyterian Church have always taken this matter quite seriously and have purposely funded the full amount of this request through the generous giving of our members.

While Redeemer Presbyterian Church includes this total amount of the “Per-Member Asking” for our membership in our Annual Budget, it is especially helpful if each member, who is able to do so, will contribute the amount of $40.00 per member person—$80.00 per member couple—as a special “Per-Member Asking Love Offering” that is above and beyond whatever amount he, she, or they normally pledges or gives to the General Fund of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

If you do decide to include the amount of this “Per-member Asking Love Offering” in your giving, please make a notation on the memo line of your check: “Per-Member Asking.”

Thank you for prayerfully considering this request. And, if you have any questions about this, please speak to any Ruling Elder, or to our Treasurer, Marykay Stahl.

[Graphic of the Souper Bowl of Caring]

Souper Bowl of Caring
Sunday, February 11, 2024

On Sunday morning, February 11, 2024, Redeemer Presbyterian Church (EPC) will collect monetary donations at the time of the Offering to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania. Please write the words “Souper Bowl of Caring” on the memo line of your checks.

The money collected will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank‘s mission to provide food to those in need within the eleven counties of northwest Pennsylvania, while creating awareness and educating the community on the realities of hunger.

Last year through your generosity, this special offering raised $265.00 for the Second Harvest Food Bank. In addition, our Missions Committee—through the annual Erie Community Foundation’s “Erie Gives” campaign—gave $1,000.00 in additional funds, to raise our contribution to the Second Harvest Food Bank to a total of $1,265.00 during 2023.

Monthly Prayer Focus logo

January, 2024

The year 2024 promises to be a contentious one for politics in this country. The political divide has rarely been greater in our country’s history. Conversations will be filled with anger, exaggeration, petty name calling, and lying to gain advantage. Members of both political parties will be guilty of these acts.

The Session respectfully asks that during the month of January, your prayers should focus on the following ideas:

  • Acknowledge that God is in control and that His will for the outcome will prevail.

  • Pray for your personal patience and calm when highly charged discussions take place around you. Consider your own motives and attitudes for engaging in the discussion: “Are they Christ like?” Respect others as people, who deserve respect as one of God’s creations. Get your point across without belittling or denigrating the other person.

  • No one’s mind will be changed when those involved in the argument are yelling past each other, talking over him or her, trying to score points, or not listening to the other person. You want your opinion heard, so pray that you will give the other person the same courtesy. If they are not willing to do the same, “turn the other cheek” then politely end the conversation and walk away.

  • Talk about matters on which you both agree. You will probably find there are more topics you can agree on than there are things on which you disagree. It establishes a basis for trust as a foundation to discuss the ideas on which you don’t agree.

Prayer Requests

More and more, we want to become a praying church. Thus, we want to continually hold each other up in prayer.

We want to celebrate your joys. We want to rejoice with you concerning the answers you’ve received to your prayers. And, we want to know about your trials, sorrows, difficulties, and concerns so that we can earnestly and fervently pray with you and pray for you.

Please don’t wait until Sunday to share with us. We welcome your Prayer Requests all week long.

If you have a Prayer Request during the week, you may connect with our prayer warriors through our Facebook “Praise and Prayer” page. Or, especially if your prayer request is of a more confidential nature, please send an email to the email address noted below.

Upon receipt, we will either activate our Prayer Chain enabling our prayer warriors to pray for your request; or, if you mark your request “Confidential,” we will only share your prayer request with the Pastor and our three Ruling Elders.

To send us a Prayer Request by email, please just click here.
